Today in History: It was on this day in 1965 when a team of scientists invented Gatorade in a University of Florida lab. Early in the summer of ’65 the UF assistant football coach met with a group of scientists on campus to determine why many of his players were so negatively affected by the heat. The scientists developed a drink that contained salts and sugars that could be absorbed more quickly. The name Gatorade was appropriately named after the Florida Gators.
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got the ADP Employment Report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and then the biggie on Friday: New Jobs Numbers for September (expected: 144k) and the US Unemployment Rate (expected: 4.2%). If these numbers come in good for the economy you’ll see rates tick up, and vice versa when the numbers disappoint.
Interest Rate Update: Today we find a conforming 30yr fixed rate in the high-5s/low-6s for loans at $250k or less, and from $251k-$766k anywhere from 5.99% – 6.625%, Jumbo rates (*over $766k) can be found in the mid-to-upper 5s for ARMs and mid-6s on 30yr fixed. As usual rates will vary based on if you’re a first time homebuyer, your credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if the home is haunted
