Four Quote of the Day: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincon (*side note: I have no idea what he’s talking about here, all I know is that it sounds like a quote that came from a serial killer instead of Abe.)

Today in Economic History: It was on this day in 1870 when Woodhull, Clafin, & Company run by Victoria Woodhull and Tennessee Clafin became the first brokerage firm run exclusively by women. (*this is a good time to mention that Tennessee is an underrated name and soon-to-be parents out there should consider it. Naming a baby after a state or city can be cool. One of the finalists for our daughter’s name was Dakota which my wife picked, but I wanted to call her South Dakota which led to a lot of fights –  so we settled on… Mckenzie. A good name is hard to come by. A bad name? Yeah, there have been plenty.

Wuss’up This Week: Not much news that will shake up interest rates, Mortgage Fans. Today we’ve got Housing Starts, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday my mom’s birthday – Happy Birthday, to the greatest mother on this planet!

Interest Rate Update: This has not been a fun section for me to write, it’s been an ugly January. But…here we go: A 30yr fixed for a conforming loan (*that’s any loan at $647k or less) is at 3.75%, but a jumbo loan (*over $647k) can be found in the 3.25-3.50% range, and jumbo ARMs in the high-2s/low-3s.  As usual, rates will vary based on if it’s a purchase or refinance, type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, or if you like fun facts.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $575 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like 50 amazing facts about everything.

Four Quote of the Day 2: “Traveling with a four-year old boy is like transferring a serial killer between prisons.” – Jim Gaffigan

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Orlando Bloom. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Del Monte Creamed Corn Candle? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “In two days it’ll be my birthday and an anagram for my name is ‘A vegan dies’. Well I’ll tell you what, animals would die if I was a hunter; I say this because in July of 1999 I almost qualified for the Summer Olympics for the U.S. archery team. I’m not really an athlete though, you probably know me from television and movies. On TV I was a President (2005-2006) and one of the many doctors (2014-2018) on a long running medical show. I’ve been in two music videos – one of Madonna’s and one of Carol King’s – they were both on the same soundtrack of a movie I starred in that had a famous line about a sad emotion. I’ve made over 20 movies and my favorite one was in ’91 – partly because I was nominated for Best Actress, and partly because a hitchhiker first gained recognition in this movie and has gone on to quite an acting (and gossip mags) career.”
