My wife came downstairs this morning and said to me, “Notice anything different?” So… just a public service announcement to women everywhere: Men are not observant creatures. I bluffed and said, “Yes, I love it!!!!!!” She then asked me what I loved about it. So… just a public service announcement to men everywhere: Women always know when you’re bluffing. And now I write this blog from the doghouse.

Discover Quote of the Day: “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Andre Gide

This Week in Economic History: It was on July 26th, 1908 the FBI was born when U.S. Attorney General Charles Bonaparte ordered a group of newly hired investigators to report to Chief Examiner Stanley Finch of the Department of Justice. Originally named the Bureau of Investigation, it wasn’t until 1935 when it officially became known as the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Around this time last year, Amazon started negotiations to have the bureau renamed ‘Amazon’s Federal Bureau of Investigation’ (much like how corporate companies put naming rights on sports stadiums) because Jeff Bezos has always been fascinated with the organization. Yes, I made that up but here’s 15 fun facts that are indeed true about the FBI.

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Pretty quiet week though – today we’ve got Existing Home Sales, tomorrow Initial Jobless Claims, and on Friday the New Home Sales Report which I expect to come in one higher than predicted as the home that was listed on my block for over a year just sold.

Interest rates remain beautiful, Mortgage Fans! Today we find 30yr fixed conforming loans (that’s any loan at $510k or less) in the high-2s to low/mid-3s, and Jumbo loans (over $510k) anywhere in the low to mid 3s. As usual rates will vary based on purchase or refinance, type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you wondered what the most expensive item for sale on Amazon is.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan closing with me I will waive $575 in closing costs! Grab yourself some instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers or people who want facts about conspiracy theories that can use this gift.

Discover Quote of the Day 2: “I hate it when I think I’m buying ORGANIC vegetables but when I get home I discover they’re just REGULAR donuts.” – @RobinMcCauley

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Will Ferrell. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Home Alone Wet Bandits T-shirt? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and an anagram for my name is Eel Maze Song. Uh, I’ve never written a song about eels or mazes  but before we talk about music we should talk about my television career. It started on a kids’ show about a dinosaur that adults loved to hate (Demi Lovato was part of the same cast!). From there it was onto  a part-time gig on a Disney show that starred another singer who hit it big (her character name: Think of a state out west).   After that I hit the big time where I starred on another Disney show that could be retitled Sorcerer of  a Certain Location.  You’d think I love acting but  everything is not what it seems – my real love is music. And my real first love was a guy that makes music who got famous thru YouTube.”
