Hey, Mortgage Fans!

Growing Up Quote of the Day: “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon.

This Week in Economic History: It was on July 21st, 1970 when after eleven years of construction, the Aswan High Dam across the Nile River in Egypt was completed. More than two miles long at its crest, the $1-billion dollar dam ended the cycle of flood and drought in the Nile River region as well as bringing in a tremendous source of renewable energy. I know you’re thinking, “Hey, Schwartz, show us some dam facts!” Okay, okay, take it easy. Here you go.

Wuss’up This Week: Not a lot going on that can shake up interest rates. Today we’ve got Housing Starts, tomorrow Jobless Claims and Existing Home Sales, and tomorrow a rare day off for economic reports so tell your boss you have my permission to not work Friday. Enjoy the three-day weekend, Mortgage Fans!

Interest Rate Update: Today we find a 30-year conforming fixed rate (*that’s for any loan at $726k or less) in the high-6s/low-7s, and a jumbo 30yr fixed closer to 7.375%. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you wonder how long it takes plastic bags to decompose

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $450 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like funny signs that can use this gift.

Possible Game Show Answer: Ronald McDonald is called Donald McDonald in Japan.

Growing Up Quote of the Day 2: “I have a lot of growing up to do. I realized that the other day inside my fort.” – Zach Galifianakis

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Sandra Oh last week.

Want to be entered into a drawing to win the World’s Smallest SlinkySimply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck:“My movie was released on this date in 2018 – and the $791 million it grossed was the highest grossing film for this franchise. But instead of talking about my successful acting career, I think I’ll give you 5 clues to my identity through my personal life. First, don’t be asking my daughter for information or answers, okay? Not funny. Second, when I set my car to drive itself, I’m literally in control. And clues 3-5: I don’t like any of my ex-wives. The first one has the last name of a hated QB (at least to Bears fans), the second I acted with back in ’99 and nobody saw that movie if you paid attention to the title of it. My third wife – who has no relation to any detective, was smart enough to know it doesn’t take a scientist to know if she stayed in the marriage she’d be up the creek (again, sans 1998-2003).”
