Hey, Mortgage Fans!

When I was a kid my dad told me Labor Day was in honor of all the women who have gone through the pain of childbirth. And this, my friends, I believed until my senior year of high school when my History teacher corrected me. In reality it was created when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. It’s also the unofficial NFL season kickoff! (*and to my wife who will complain about that, I’d like to point out that ‘Housewives of ___’ has no offseason.) So enjoy your Labor Day weekend, Mortgage Fans – whether you’re in labor, a laborer, or just trying to make it to the next day.

Big shout out to the GOAT – Bob Barker, may he rest in peace. From 2nd grade through high school there were many days I faked like I was sick so I could stay home from school to watch Price is Right, and probably learned more from him on how to relate to people than I would’ve had I been at school.

Popcorn Quote of the Day: “Popcorn is one of the only situations in which you eat the result of an explosion.” – Demetri Martin

Possible Game Show Answer: The Hass avocado was patented in 1935 by Rudolph Hass, a mailman from California.

Wuss’up This Week: This is kind of a big week for reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. And by ‘kind of’ I mean it will. Not sure why I was so nonchalant to start the sentence like that but I won’t look back because in this blog we only look to the future. And by ‘future’ I mean tomorrow which starts with the ADP Employment Report, Thursday Jobless Claims, and Friday’s biggie the Employment Numbers from August (expected: 165k new jobs and unemployment rate at 3.5%). If these numbers come in good for the economy rates will tick up, and vice versa if the numbers disappoint.

Interest Rate Update: Today we find a conforming 30yr fixed in the high-6s/low-7s for any loan at $250k or less, and mid-to-upper 7s for any loan at $251k-$726k). Jumbo 30yr fixed loans are mid-7s for a fixed rate and about a quarter lower for ARMs. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you like ‘blursed’ images

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me, I will waive $450 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like impressive woodworking

Popcorn Quote of the Day 2: “I hope popcorn appreciates what the microwave did for its career.” – Jim Gaffigan

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Mariah Carey!

Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Froot Loops Candle. Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and as I give hints to who I am, you’ll find something about me you love. I started modeling at the age of 16 and at 17 made the cover of Seventeen magazine. At the age of 21 I was cast as the lead actress in a movie where the lead actor had his face covered for a lot of it. Four years later I starred in a very bad movie with a former swinger. It wasn’t until 2011 when I would star in another bad movie that costarred one of the more successful solo acts to spin off from a boy band. Although I’m very pretty, you wouldn’t know it from my three animated movies where two of my costars were former SNL players, one who made a total ass of himself.”
