Password Quote of the Day: “Passwords are like underwear: you don’t let people see it, you should change it very often, and you shouldn’t share it with strangers.”

Today in Economic History: It was on this day in 1896 that the first movie theater in the US opened and charged .10 cents for admission. (*I think even if that movie had been Baywatch I’d still feel like I got ripped off).

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got Durable Goods Orders (expected: -1.4%), tomorrow Weekly Jobless Claims (expected: 217k), and on Friday the Consumer Sentiment Report (*This should be up because my wife suckered me into watching the Notebook last night so I am feeling a little sentimental).

What do interest rates have in common with roller coasters? They go up and down like a roller coaster. Sorry, I’m writing this at 2:00am and I don’t have a better analogy in me. But really, they go up and down. Today you’ll find a 30yr fixed rate in the high-3s/low-4s, with adjustable rate mortgages a sliver lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you know tips on interviewing serial killers.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan closing with me between now and August 31st gets a $500 closing cost credit – yeeehaa! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this along to any friends, family, coworkers, or co-slackers that can use this gift.

Password Quote of the Day 2: “When I was a kid, the only password you had to remember was the one that got you into the treehouse.” – @Cheeseboy22

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Paula Abdul. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a tips on interviewing serial killers? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and I’d celebrate it with my husband if I was married. I was engaged recently to a guy who suffered a loss on 9/11. Interesting that terrorism has touched both of us personally. But enough of the sad stuff – let’s concentrate on the good. Singing is where my true love is so I guess you can call it a minor victory that I got a recurring role on a Nickelodeon show that lasted for three years. Before that show you could say my last name would’ve fit me if I was obese, but now you can say it fits me considering how big I have become – I’m the only person to have the lead singles from each of their first five studio albums to debut in the Billboard Top 10 in the US.”

Gonna give the blog a one week vacation – everyone have a great July 4th, and I’ll see you back in your in-boxes on July 10th.
