Hey Mortgage Fans!
Courage Quote of the Day: “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – William Faulkner
So…. I’m out of town this week living one of my favorite oxymorons: “A working vacation.” And I woke up this morning in a cold sweat realizing I didn’t write my blog, and in jeopardy of breaking an incredible 11-year streak without missing a Wednesday. I tell you this because to keep that streak alive I need to shorten it quite a bit. Here you go, Mortgage Fans – normally three paragraphs I am shortening to three sentences:
- Interest rates for a conforming 30yr fixed (*that’s for any loan at $726k or less) can be found in the high-5s-to-upper 6s. Jumbo 30yr fixed (*over $726k) also in that same range. ARMs, like my high school report cards, continue to disappoint – they are all priced about the same for conforming loans but starting to lower on jumbos. More about that next week.
- Fed Chair Jerome Powell will raise rates a predicted .25 percent today, even though banks are starting to drop like flies around my mother-in-law’s cooking.
- Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $450 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, and co-slackers that can use this gift!
Possible Game Show Answer: Female cicadas have been known to confuse the roar of power tools for mating calls, sometimes swarming people using lawn mowers. And with that I now have an excuse never to mow my lawn again.
Courage Quote of the Day 2: “There’s nothing worse than child abuse, but a close second is when someone describes an actor’s performance as ‘courageous.’” @DannyZucker
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Halle Berry last week!

Good luck: It was on this date that the movie I wrote and directed was released in 2019, and no – it’s not about a popular magazine. You know what was based on a magazine? The title of the show I joined in 2003 (spent five seasons there). So yeah, I got my start there, but the key to my popularity was working with a guy whose name can be found in this very sentence! We had several skits go viral on our Comedy Central show from 2012-2015, so I know what you’re thinking: how did I go from sketch comedy to writing and directing a movie that was scary? Ah, you’re talking about my 2017 flick that was nominated for four Academy Awards, yeah – I’m really proud of that one. Am I proud of my 2022 movie that I wrote and directed? Nope. But here’s one more hint for you before I go – my last name is something you would do with a banana.”
