This Week in Economic History: It was on November 12th, 1946 the nation’s first drive-thru bank was introduced. This invention was the idea of the Exchange National Bank of Chicago which started out having 10 drive-thru windows. (*tellers did not ask people making deposits if they wanted to super-size them.)
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and those reports can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got a 10-year Note Auction (these make great holiday gifts!), tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday the Consumer Sentiment Report. Keep in mind that if these reports show positive numbers for the economy rates will trend up, and vice-versa if the numbers come in weaker than expected.
Interest rates remain flat. A 30-year fixed can be found in the high-3s/low-4s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if the home has secret floors.
