Angry Quote of the Day: “Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” – Ambrose Bierce

Did’ja Know: The word ‘mortgage’ was derived from an old French word ‘mortgage’ which literally means ‘dead pledge’ from mort (dead) and gage (pledge). It’s called this because the deal dies when the debt is paid or when payment fails. (*Sadly, my mortgage is alive and well. Thriving, actually.)

Wuss’up This Week: Big reports coming out this week on employment that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got the ADP Employment Report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and Friday’s biggie the September Jobs Report (expected: 235k new jobs with unemployment falling to 5.2%). Should these numbers come in better than expected you’ll see interest rates tick up, and vice-versa if the numbers disappoint. Speaking of interest rates…

Interest Rate Update: Unless you want to pay points or exuberant fees you will not see rates in the 2s for a 30yr fixed loan. Both conforming loans (*at $548k or less) and jumbo loans (*over $548k) have settled in the low-3s. Fear not, Mortgage Fans, because I do have loans with rates that mirror my high school GPA – ask me about a 15yr fixed conforming loan as well as conforming and jumbo ARMs – they are all in the 2s. As usual, rates will vary based on if it’s a purchase or refinance, type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you are interested in 40 cooking tips.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $575 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like product fails that can use this gift.

Angry Quote of the Day 2: “Love it when the washing machine gets to the angry part. Let it out, girl.” – @internetanja

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Seth Rogen. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Saint Jeff Goldblum painting print? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “In a couple of days it will be my birthday to which I say ‘I feel born again!” – hahaha, total play on words. But first let’s go back to early in my career – remember back in ’97 when I won my Academy Award for a movie that could literally be retitled ‘Fine Intention Shooting’. Made a lot of movies since then – one about being a fast driver, one about being in outer space, and a couple about being in the water – well, if you knew nothing about those movies you’d come to that conclusion from their titles.”
