Did’ja Know: Checks are only instructions for banks. Therefore a check can be written on anything (gum wrappers, toilet paper, cereal boxes, Post-it notes, pets you don’t want anymore, trees, T-shirts, boxers (clean or dirty), basketballs (which would make it so literal if the check bounced) , empty Windex bottles, etc. ) as long as the pertinent information such as your account number and the bank’s routing number are also written on it.
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got the Consumer Price Index Report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday Retail Sales (*expected down 0.2% because I returned the ugliest pair of shorts my friend got me for my birthday. I didn’t take a pic but it was close to this on the ugly scale.
With bigger down payments and high credit scores I’m starting to see more and more interest rates starting with one of my favorite Schoolhouse Rock numbers. Today you’ll find 30-year fixed rates in the upper-3s/lower 4s, and adjustable rate mortgages a sliver less. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, credit score, and if you invent stuff.
