Before we get into the blog: Even if you are vaccinated, the CDC still recommends calling me for purchase and refinance loans. Yeeeehaaaaaw!! Okay, here we go …

Children Quote of the Day: “Children see magic because they look for it.” – Christopher Moore

Today in Economic History: It was on this day in 1981 IBM started selling the world’s first PC, selling 136,000 in the first year. This was like, really, just a fancy typewriter. Yes, it had software and could do some really cool stuff, but you couldn’t order anything – the only Amazon back then was in a rainforest in Brazil. I think people in 1981 – if they could see how far technology has come – their heads would explode. Then they’d order a new head to be delivered same day. Hey, speaking of vending machines (yeah, I know – I’m bad and segues) here are some crazy ones from around the world.

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got a 10-Year Note Auction – these make a great Christmas gift! If there is a large demand for these you’ll see rates drop. Tomorrow we have the Jobless Claims report and a 30-Year Bond Auction (these make a great Hanukkah gift) nothing to report on Friday.

Interest Rate Update: Last week started off great and then things quickly turned on the Jobs Report for July which came in better than expected. Rates were quick to jump up on that news and bumped up about an eighth, ruining the end of my week. (that, and my dog peeing on the carpet we just had steamed). Today, you can find a 30-year fixed conforming rate (that’s for any loan at $548k or less) in the high-2s/low-3s, conforming 15-yr fixed still in the low-to-mid 2s. Jumbo 30-yr fixed (over $548k) around 3.0% and Jumbo ARMs in the 2s. As usual, rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you wonder what you’re doing with your life.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $575 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people wondering how their brain works that can use this gift.

Children Quote of the Day 2: “Having children is like living in a frat house – nobody sleeps, everything’s broken, and there’s a lot of throwing up.” – Ray Romano

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Billy Bob Thornton last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It was on this date in 2019 I announced my separation and intention to divorce from a guy who just didn’t hunger after me anymore. An anagram for my name is ‘use my lyric’ although I don’t want you to – maybe ask my Dad if you can use some of his. So … some of you might remember me by an early stage name which my sitcom gave me – the first name is spelled the same forwards and backwards. The last name I’d like to state sort of rhymes with the first name. But I left that all behind, and my first name now sounds like a measurement, but don’t try and measure me, I can’t be controlled when I’m partying in this great country of ours.”
