Morning Quote of the Day: “Lose an hour in the morning, and you will spend all day looking for it.” – Richard Whately (*I’d like to add that when I lose an hour in the morning I have no regrets looking for it as long as it’s in bed.)
Possible Game Show Answer: It would take 19 minutes to fall to the center of the earth. (*A couple of years ago I fell down the stairs Hollywood stuntman style. The worst part was that it was like a scene out of bad sitcom because my wife told me earlier in the day, “Pick up your dirty clothes” and it was my T-shirt that I tripped over. Miraculously, no broken bones or long-term injuries. Anyway, I don’t think it would take me 19 minutes to reach the center because it took me less than 3 seconds to fall the entire flight of stairs. Also, my wife wasn’t home at the time and I never told her because – y’know - can’t let her think she was right.)
Wuss’up This Week: Not a whole lot going on this week that can sway rates in either direction. Today there is no economic data being released, tomorrow we’ve got Jobless Claims, and Existing Home Sales, and then on Friday New Home Sales. If these numbers come in good for the economy you’ll see rates tick up and vice versa if the numbers disappoint.
Interest Rate Update: Not a great week last week, and flat this week so far as today we find both conforming (*loans at $806k and less) and jumbo (over $806k) 30yr fixed rates in the high-6s/low-7s. ARMs are picking up momentum as they are around the low-to-mid 6s (*Keep in mind they carry a one-year prepayment penalty). As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and how long you have to work to afford a cup of coffee
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase loans that close with me I will waive $450 in lender fees (and much more on refinances)! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like weird autopsy results
Morning Quote of the Day 2: “Don’t you hate it when people say, ‘You’re gonna regret that in the morning’? I sleep till noon. I’m good.” – Elayne Boosler
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Amanda Seyfried last week! Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Trix Coffee Mug ? Simply email me the answer to this week's Who Am I? question. Good luck:“The finale of my TV series aired on this date in 2010 (*actually May 23rd but for this blog I’ll try to pilot you the right direction) – and I have to tell you I feel kind of adrift without it. No, maybe astray? Missing? I don’t know the right word to use but I do miss this sci-fi series. At the age of 28 is when I hit it big with my TV series which was titled something you might hear the hostess at a restaurant say. My brother in that show also has a last name that’s an animal! In 1996 People Magazine named me one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World; in 2006 I co-starred with People’s Sexiest Man (in 2005) in a true story about a plane crash (*I know, I know – a little confusing but no relation to what I opened this trivia question with). Are you fans of cartoon race car drivers? If so, you’ll like my 2008 movie where my character name has the same seldom-used letter as my real last name.”
