Waiting for Lower Rates, Favorite Books, & A Macho Man Mug!

Waiting Quote of the Day: “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” – Carl Sagan

Possible Game Show Answer: Stuck inside on a rainy day in 1816, writers Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Polidori challenged each other to a scary story writing contest. Mary came up with the idea for Frankenstein and published it two years later at age 20. Here are 11 Frankenstein facts for your reading pleasure, Mortgage Fans.

Today in History: It was on this date in 1951 when J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye was published. Not only was this the only book I liked that I was forced to read in high school, but it’s also my favorite book of all time (*Sorry, Dr. Seuss – Green Eggs and Ham is a close 2nd.)

Wuss’up This Week: Today we have four reports on inflation being released. Inflation as you know has been kryptonite for interest rates, so here’s hoping the downward trend will continue. Tomorrow is a busy day as well – Jobless Claims, Retail Sales Report, Home Builder Confidence Index are all being released along with three Fed Governors giving speeches, and then on Friday Housing Starts, Building permits, and Consumer Sentiment Report end the week. If all of these reports come in good for the economy, we’ll see rates dip down, and vice versa if the numbers disappoint.

Interest Rate Update: Today we find both conforming rates (*$806k or less) and jumbo rates (*over $806k) still in the mid-to-upper 6s for a 30yr fixed, and ARMs maybe a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you can recognize celebrity childhood photos

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase loan that closes with me I will waive $450 in lender fees (*and much more on refinances)! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people with weird names that can use this gift.

Waiting Quote of the Day 2: “Another reason why I’m no one’s emergency contact: I just waited 5 minutes for an elevator I never pushed the button for.” - @dammit_amy

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Jack White last week! Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Macho Man “Ooh Yeah” Mug? Simply email me the answer to this week's Who Am I? question. Good luck: “My film – based off of a cartoon – was released on this date in 1997. If filming conditions weren’t the best I would’ve replied, “It’s a _____ out there." That film made some good money, but what made me a lot of money was my 1999 movie and its sequel in 2001, and if I was British I’d probably call one of my parents one of the words in the title. A couple of years ago I starred in a Scoresese film, and by ‘starred” I was probably the third most famous actor in in the movie!) that was nominated for ten Academy Awards. But I’ll tell you what, I’m pretty darn good at what I do; in fact, I became the first Canadian to win an Oscar for Best Actor – which is huge!! Haha, saying ‘huge’ you might be thinking of the movie I won it for.”

That’s when the Fed will cut rates
